Lake Erie has always filled me with a sense of unease. It feels like an old place; not dressed in the rosy tint of nostalgia, but covered in a faded melancholic hue. On the North Shore, sandy bluffs sag and bend as they gradually erode into the water, while on the Southern Shore, the shadows of rusting ships fade in and out of the remains of rusting cities. There is a strong feeling of inevitability here and my goal in photographing the Lake is to capture my feelings of anxiety, loss and sometimes peace as I explore Lake Erie.
